The Land Rover
Experience Nelspruit is set in the 1000 hectare Umhloti Nature Reserve
in the hills above Nelspruit. This challenging terrain has been a
playground to the likes of the "Camel Trophy", Land Rover
"TreK" and G4 challenge events. There are over 85km of scenic
off-road trails to be explored while spotting game and putting your 4x4
to the ultimate test.
The Land Rover Experience provides drivers with practical training,
building their skills and using their vehicles in a spectrum of arduous
terrains. The Experience creates a harmony between the capabilities of
man and machine, whether your vehicle is used for work or pleasure, on
or off road. All participants are equipped with confidence,
understanding and the appreciation needed to help them get the maximum
enjoyment from driving their 4x4's in a responsible, environmentally
friendly manner.
LEVEL ONE: This
course introduces the participant to the basic techniques of both on and
off-road driving in a 4x4 vehicle. It includes hill and water work, ruts
and side tilts. The practical training is supported by a theoretical
understanding of your 4x4 and its driving concepts.
The course is designed for all 4x4 drivers, new or experienced, and
ensures that, with practice, the driver is able to extract maximum
benefit and service life from the vehicle. It is structured to build
driver awareness of the aspects of basic checks and vehicle care, which
are vital for ensuring consistent performance.
The course costs R1000 per person (lunch included.) It starts at 08h00
and ends at 14h00 with lunch.
Umhloti is able to provide vehicles for those who do not own a 4x4.
LEVEL TWO: This course is only offered to those who have completed Level
One and focuses on specialist areas of off-road use, such as more
advanced off-road driving, vehicle recovery and winching.
The course starts 08h00 with lunch and ends at 16h00. It costs R1800 per
person which includes a course handbook and lunch.
Additional
(non-driving) persons attending the courses can do so for R250 per
person. If only attending the lunch the price is R94 per person.
The Extreme Drive is
exclusive to the Land Rover Experience Nelspruit. This one and a half
hour drive runs over the most difficult off road obstacles 4x4 drivers
will ever encounter. Land Rover Experience instructors are responsible
for this adrenaline packed expedition which is done in open Land Rover
Defender vehicles that can take 5 passengers at a time. Drives are at
7h30 and 17h30 every day. The drives costs R330 p.p.
The newly completed
5 star Umhloti Lodge offers luxurious accommodation, delicious
traditional African cuisine and a conference centre that can take up to
150 people. Many kinds of team building activities are offered such as
abseiling and paintballing. Guided safari tours through the Kruger
National Park in open game viewing vehicles can also be arranged.
