This means that the underlying rock is
Granite, which accounts for the shallow, rocky soils, and for the
particular types of vegetation. The following plants are consistent
with the area: Combrerum species such as the Russet and Rhodesian
bushwillow, Acacia nigrescens ( knob thorn) and Sclerocarya birrea
(Morula ), to name but a few.
The following animals can also be seen around Berg-en-Dal area: Rhino,
Wild dog, Giraffe, Leopard, Elephant, Waterbuck, Kudu and many others.
Indeed Berg-en-Dal has, over the years become known as the “Rhino
Camp”. The highest mountain in the Kruger National Park, Kandizwe
(839 meters above sea level) lies within sight of Berg-en-Dal.

| Description: |
Berg-en-Dal is
situated on the banks of the Matjulu spruit with a view over the
Berg-en-Dal dam towards the gentle, rolling hilling to the East. On
the Northern and Southern sides of the camp are two dry riverbeds. Special
care has been taken, as far as possible, to preserve the natural
vegetation of the area within the camp itself. The landscape type of
this area is the “Malelane mountain bushveld communities.” |
