2003 GARDEN ROUTE MAGIC TOUR

A 9 day scenic SELF DRIVE tour discovering magnificent city of Cape Town, the stunningly beautiful Garden Route & the African wildlife of the malaria free Addo Elephant Park. Highlights include the fairest Cape of Good Hope, Table Mountain, the famous winelands, the whale watching town of Hermanus, the charming Little Karoo, the feather capital of Oudtshoorn, the beautiful lakes district of Knysna, the Tsitsikamma forests and the friendly city of Port Elizabeth.

DAY 1/2 CAPE TOWN

Arrive in South Africa’s Mother City, Cape Town and spend the next 3 days discovering the enticing Cape Peninsula, the Cape of Good Hope, Table Mountain, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Hout Bay, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Groot Constantia Wine Estate, Cape Dutch architecture, Robben Island, and much, much more… Two nights accommodation in the beautiful city of Cape Town. Discover the culinary pleasures of Cape Town’s restaurants, or if you prefer, you can enjoy dinner in the luxury of your hotel!

DAY 3 HERMANUS

On day 3 travel via the winelands and the stunningly scenic coastal road via Gordon’s Bay and Kleinmond to Hermanus, one of the world’s best whale spotting areas.

Day 4 HERMANUS - MONTAGU

Continue to the charming town of Montagu, situated at the start of the famous Route 62 – the gateway to the Little Karoo. Before continuing to Montagu, why not join an optional ECO cruise out to sea from either Hawston or Gansbaai!

Day 5 MONTAGU - OUDTSHOORN

Travel along Route 62 to Oudtshoorn and visit the world famous Cango Caves as well as an ostrich farm or hug a cheetah (if you’re lucky!) at the Oudtshoorn Wildlife Ranch. Overnight in this historical town, also known as the feather capital of the world.

Day 6 OUDTSHOORN - KNYSNA

Spend the whole day exploring the singularly lovely Garden Route, including the lakes, mountains, forests, bird life, the Knysna lagoon and charming little craft shops.

 

Why not extend your stay in Knysna and take a return trip at optional extra cost on the historic Outeniqua Choo Choo steam train and enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful scenery from the comfort of a rail car. OR go for a cruise with the John Benn on the Knysna Lagoon at optional extra cost. Such a cruise could

include a visit to the Featherbed Nature Reserve on the opposite side of the lagoon, with a scrumptious lunch in the forest.

Day 7 KNYSNA – ADDO/ZUURBERG

Continue along the scenic Garden Route via Plettenberg Bay and the impressive Grootrivier and Bloukrans Passes and through the lush Nature’s Valley. Continue to Storms River Mouth in the Tsitsikamma National Park which is a birdwatcher’s paradise. Then continue to the Zuurberg Mountain Inn, on the old stage coach road, near Addo.

Day 8 ADDO – PORT ELIZABETH

Spend the greater part of the day in the malaria free Addo Elephant Park and then make your way to the "Friendly City" of Port Elizabeth, where you will overnight. Exploring Port Elizabeth’s beaches is definitely a relaxing way to end your trip!

Day 9 PORT ELIZABETH AIRPORT

Travel to Port Elizabeth Airport for your return flight to Cape Town or any other part of South Africa and return your rented vehicle at the airport.
