Owned by the Kohrs Family, White Elephant Lodge is pioneering the
elephant relocation project in the Pongola Game Reserve and offers an
intimate glimpse of Africa and the challenges facing wildlife conservation
today. Umkhaya Bush Lodge:
Located in the beautiful Pongola Game Reserve along the N2 halfway between
Durban and the Kurger National Park, Umkhaya Bush Lodge is a unique
destination, set in a shady thicket of whispering knobthorn trees (from
which its name is derived). Umkhaya provides a tranquil retreat in
spacious thatched chalets each with their own private veranda which
provides spectacular views of the Lebombo mountains and Lake Jozini.
Stylish simplicity, Africa's hues and uncomplicated dining add to the
serenity and harmony with nature. Unwind with dusky bird-calls, magical
moon rises, a gentle boat cruise or a romantic bath in the bush. Cast the
waters for Tiger fish or venture into the wilderness on guided walks, game
drives or 'elephanting'.
Surrounded by the Majestic Lebombo mountains and overlooking the shimmering waters of Lake Jozini, White Elephant Lodge offers every comfort for your sojourn in the African Wilderness. Originally built in the 1920's, the main lodge recaptures the history and romance of the colonial era. The deep veranda, sweeping views and tranquillity set the scene for a unique African adventure. 8 Luxurious en suite safari tents with outdoor shower, private veranda and personal bar have been stylishly decorated.
Game drives are conducted in open Landrovers with professional guides, and walking trails are very much a part of the White Elephant Experience.
